Position Overview
The Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN) is seeking a dynamic and motivated Capacity Strengthening and Knowledge Management Officer to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the organizational capacity of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and enhancing learning and knowledge management within the project. The position will coordinate capacity development initiatives, facilitate trainings and learning events, and document best practices and lessons learned to strengthen institutional learning.
The Officer will also support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) functions by contributing to data collection, monitoring project progress, and promoting evidence-based decision-making and advocacy. The role will serve as a key link between field-level implementation and project management, working closely with Inclusion Facilitators and the Project Coordinator to ensure effective coordination, information flow, and quality implementation of project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizational Development and Capacity Strengthening
• Support the organizational strengthening of local Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), particularly youth-led and grassroots OPDs, to enhance their governance, leadership, and program management capacities.
• Facilitate organizational development (OD), advocacy, leadership, and related capacity-building trainings for OPDs and project partners.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to Inclusion Facilitators and OPD leaders to strengthen their skills in documentation, planning, advocacy, and inclusive practices.
• Support under-represented and marginalized OPDs, including those led by women and youth with disabilities, to conduct self-advocacy and rights-awareness trainings within their communities.
• Promote cross-learning, peer exchange, and collaboration among OPDs to strengthen the disability movement at the local level.
• Engage with relevant stakeholders, including local governments, civil society organizations, and networks, to promote disability inclusion and strengthen partnerships for advocacy and capacity development.
• Coordinate closely with project teams and Inclusion Facilitators to enhance field-level skills and ensure quality implementation of project activities.
MEAL and Knowledge Management
• Support the implementation of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) framework to track activities, outputs, and outcomes.
• Develop and maintain systems for data collection, documentation, and analysis to monitor project progress and support evidence-based learning.
• Document best practices, lessons learned, case studies, and success stories to capture project experiences and strengthen knowledge sharing.
• Compile narrative reports, progress updates, and other learning products to support internal and donor reporting.
• Conduct periodic monitoring visits and coordinate with field teams to ensure the quality and effectiveness of project activities.
• Maintain and update project databases, monitoring tools, and knowledge management systems.
• Contribute to strengthening learning, accountability, and evidence-based advocacy within the project.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Disability Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum four years of relevant experience in MEAL, knowledge management, organizational development, or project implementation in the development or NGO sector.
Demonstrated experience in facilitating trainings, workshops, and mentoring programs for organizations and communities.
Experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and advocacy initiatives, including local governments, networks, or civil society organizations.
Strong understanding of disability rights, inclusion, and youth engagement.
Experience in data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management systems, including report writing and documentation of lessons learned and good practices.
Experience in developing learning products such as case studies, success stories, or briefs is desirable.
Ability to coordinate with field teams, manage multiple tasks, and work in a dynamic environment.
Excellent facilitation and communication skills in English and Nepali. (Communication skill in local language will be an additional advantage)
Strong analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills.
Ability to mentor and support field staff and partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and data management tools.
Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
