Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN), started its “On the Job Training 2016”
Before the training program, Application were called and collected. A total number of 19 application was received and 17 of them were interviewed. Per year BYAN selects only 10 blind and partially sighted persons for the training. Participants were given orientation about the purpose of the training. Through this orientation, the selected candidates were able to get prepared for the training session and can do homework about their upcoming learning opportunity. It is also an opportunity for them to share about the program to friends and family. A short survey was conducted during the orientation to ask the candidates about their comfort in learning, what is the best technique to implement to make the training more effective.
The objective of the training is to empower the selected candidates to enroll them in employment opportunities after empowerment. We have been closely working with National Federation of Disabled, Nepal (NFDN) for the searching of the job avenues and providing training related to employment for Blind and partially sighted people.
Accessibility: Participants were informed about the accessibility measures such as use of software such as Jaws Narrator, magnifier which are helpful in carrying out the job.
