Expression of interest for development of five days training package on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for persons with disabilities
Background
BYAN is currently implementing a project titled “Empowering adolescents and persons with disabilities on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)” with the support of Amplify Change. The project will be implemented in four districts- Kathmandu, Kaski, Banke and Kailali. It aims to strengthen the capacity of CSE among persons with disabilities, bring policy level changes at the local, provincial and national level and increase the capacity of the BYAN chapters. In order to achieve this goal, BYAN will be training young persons with disabilities (physical disability, hearing-related disability, vision-related disability and intellectual and autism disability) as CSE educators. These educators will be organizing CSE sessions in schools and through community visits. Additionally, BYAN will actively participate in advocacy and lobbying initiatives with local, provincial and national government agencies. The primary objective is to seamlessly incorporate CSE at the policy level and into local curriculum.
In response to this, BYAN has planned to develop a five days training package to teach CSE contents specifically tailored for young people with a focus on (physical disability, hearing related disability, vision related disability and intellectual and autism disability). BYAN announces the call for Expression of Interest (EOI) from experienced and qualified experts for the development of a five days training package on CSE for young people with disabilities.
Objective of the assignment: The primary objective of this assignment is to develop a comprehensive five days training package that specifically focuses on training young persons with disabilities within the context of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). The aim is to sensitize educators on CSE and equip them with the effective tools and strategies to impart CSE content and skills, ensuring that these individuals and other young people with disabilities can make informed decisions about their sexuality, express their needs, and assert their rights.
Scope of work:
The consultant is required to complete the following assignments:
- Prepare a five days training package on CSE for young people with disabilities targeting (physical disability, hearing related disability, vision related disability and intellectual disability and autism).
- Conduct desk review of national and international training packages and literature targeting similar groups and on the issue of CSE.
- Organize and attend regular meetings with the team of BYAN to create common understanding on the contents and processes.
- Consult with organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) or persons with disabilities to attain required information for the content and delivery methods.
- Prepare a draft of the training package and share it with the team of BYAN for the required feedback.
- Translate certain sections in Nepali as sample lessons which will serve as a reference material for the CSE educators.
- Provide the final document with language editing and proofreading.
Deliverables:
- Detailed outline of the booklet
- Preliminary draft of the booklet
- Final document with proper language-editing and proof-reading
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Public Health, Disability, or Social Science.
- Minimum three to five years of experience in the field of SRHR/CSE and disability, particularly experience in developing training package/ manuals for training young people on this issue.
- Good facilitation skills and research skills i.e. organizing consultation/ workshops, meeting with wider stakeholders and good coordination with organizations of persons with disabilities.
- Having strong knowledge and understanding about diverse learning needs of adolescents and young people with disabilities especially teaching CSE components.
- Basic understanding about the methods of communication towards people with diverse disabilities.
- Have demonstrable experience of working on relevant assignments esp. development of training packages on CSE for persons with disabilities.
Service Duration and Location:
The consultant will be working in close coordination with the BYAN team. The consultant shall be engaged on a daily basis for a period of fifteen days. The consultant will be recruited immediately.

BYAN will select the consultant based on their experience and amount proposed for the task.
